                                                          About The Author

JOSEPHINE DARNER lives and writes in Rockville, Maryland.  Beside The Marigolds and Other Paths is her third published collection of poetry.  Her second, The Dance Within, was published in 1999, and her first, The Music of Memories, in 1995.

In turn, music, dance, theater and poetry have been consuming passions of her life.  She loves to sing in the choir, run and walk on the beach in early morning, and chat with neighbors in the park near her home.

At one time a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company, Josephine Darner has also performed on television, with summer stock companies, in off-Broadway productions, and in a Broadway play.

In her newest book of poems she leads us to explore various pathways.  She says "I hope the reader will discover new and colorful leaves while strolling along these familiar paths."

She currently serves as Vice President of the Bethesda Chapter of the
National League of American Pen Women.

Beside the Marigolds and Other Paths is a delightful poetic journey down eight distinct paths.  Ms. Darner's gentle, yet provocative writing takes the reader through the joys of nature, a diverse array of art - complete with jazz, painting, music and dancing, mystic musings, a heart warming nostalgic glimpse of her past, phases of love, her country, and spirituality.  Each path is creatively explored and worth the journey - not once, but many times!
